Greetings! I am a freelance business writer located in the Research Triangle region of North Carolina. My goal is to make your corporate message more powerful and effective. My work helps drive sales and converts prospects into clients more quickly and efficiently. My focus on your behalf is to write trade articles, case studies involving your services, and online copy to get your message out.
A little about me:
My experience in the automotive, construction, and manufacturing fields has shaped the writing that I do. I have had a lifelong interest and participation in automotive restoration and vintage racing. I write magazine articles and book copy on a wide range of automotive topics.
Here’s how to reach me:
The Loomis School, Windsor, Connecticut – college prep
The University of Rochester, New York – B.A. in English and Psychology
The State University at Brockport, New York – M.S. Ed. – Curriculum Development
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill – Ed.D. Educational Leadership
My 35 years in public education was a call to service for me. I was a teacher for inner city elementary, middle, and high schools. I also served as an elementary, middle, and high school principal. From that I raised a family as a single parent, and my two successful adults (once children) serve as examples of solid parenting. Those who have trod this road understand the rocks and gravel that lie on it: the challenge builds steadfast character. I have also worked with thousands of young people and was able to help raise some to adulthood and their own success. I am grateful to have helped them; their stories inhabit my mind and inform my work.
My passion for writing began in childhood; I still have those journals. My fiction is now starting to bear fruit from these seeds, while my nonfiction production comes from my personal passion and outside assignments from clients.
2011 was the launch year for my new career, and I’ve posted some samples of my work where magazine publishers have allowed. Otherwise, links or references to article sources will have to suffice. Current projects include a nonfiction automotive history book now in proposal stage, several magazine articles in various stages of the process (proposed, in the pipe, or published).
My public education credentials include certifications in several areas of teaching and Superintendent credentials in North Carolina and Virginia.
I have trained in social media and acquired other skills to adapt to the changing environment presented to contemporary journeymen writers. My written works are my credentials – check out my samples or shoot me an assignment.
My awards from public education are not relevant to this arena, as I have moved on from that world to encounter new challenges and follow my passions in writing. However, I expect to earn some awards soon for my writing, and will post as I acquire them.
